Mail Order Zombie - Episodes 036 & 037

One DVD (The Vanguard), one CD (The Dead Matter: Cemetery Gates) and one table top game (Humans!) get a little attention in Episode 36 of Mail Order Zombie (thanks to Lord Dward from Plan 9 From Cyberspace!). Not only do you get to hear these reviews, you also get to hear every ringtone Bren has on her cell phone as she proves just how popular she is when she's interrupted several times while reading y'all's Feedback this week. In addition to the Name-That-Zombie-Movie contest that launched last week, a new contest kicks off for a copy of one of the items reviewed this week, and we're still taking answers for the current Zombie Aptitude Test question.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We didn't intend for Episode 37 to be so Feedback-heavy when we started, but we have so much great discussion-fodder, Bren and Brother D just couldn't help themselves. Before the Feedback Avalanche hits, though, Brother D sneaks in a review of Night of the Living Dorks, and a few members of the Mail Order Zombie Family members also sent in their thoughts of the movie as well. The contest for The Vanguard is still running, and we scour the interweb for zombie news and sightings in this week's Zombie Beat. And because it's his show and he said so, Brother D is extending the Zombie Aptitude Test question one more week, so you still have time to get your ZAT answers in. (Special thanks to Scott and Tracey from Disney, Indiana for the Harry Manfredini audio!)

I had the pleasure of meeting Brother D and Bren in the flesh last Saturday at the Revenant Film Fest and they were super awesome and it was great to meet some like-minded zombie fanatics.

Episode 038

Brother D is doing his best to not become a zombie himself, so while he's fighting off the crud that has taken residence inside his nasal cavity and throat, Miss Bren steps up and runs the show! Both Brother D and Miss Bren were guests at the 2008 Revenant Film Festival, so you will hear a little bit from Brother D as he covers that event (with a special guest appearance by another Northwest podcaster!), and Miss Bren takes this opportunity to clear through the backlog of emails and voicemails here at MOZ Central. She also announces the winner of The Vanguard DVD contest, and announces the next Mail Order Zombie contest starting with this week's episode. The current Zombie Aptitude Test answers are revealed and a new ZAT question is posed to the Mail Order Zombie family. (And thanks to Corey Graham of The Midnight Podcast for sending in a recording that does nothing but further the Is-He-Or-Isn't-He? discussion!)

Episode 039

Miss Bren rocked it last week, didn't she? She kept the show going and microphone warm, and now Brother D is back, firing on almost all cylinders and rocking Episode 39 of Mail Order Zombie. The review content is high this week: Miss Bren and Brother D review Episodes 2 and 3 of Zombie Hunters: City of the Dead, Dave from the Cheap and Dirty Podcast reviews the comic Dead Space, the movies Zombie Wars and Dance of the Dead get the Mail Order Zombie treatment, and four listeners submit reviews of their own as well! Answers for the current Zombie Aptitude Test are still being collected, as are entries for the contest to win your own copy of the book Zombie Movies: The Ultimate Guide by Glenn Kay. Check it out!

Episode 039.5

The current Zombie Aptitude Test question was dropped from the mix in Episode 39, so Brother D puts it out there since the answers are due next week. Also, Amy from the Night of the Living Podcast is concerned for Brother D's soul. Despite her concern, he digs deep to find something special to review for Episode 40, the Halloween Episode. What's in store for Episode 40? Listen to find out . . .

===============================================

Episode 040

Another week, another episode of Mail Order Zombie! This week, Brother D pushes the limits and explores all new depths in zombie cinema when he reviews House of the Dead, House of the Dead 2: No Guts, No Glory and the Director's Cut of House of the Dead, the Funny version . . . all at once. To try to keep his sanity, he also (inspired by the award-nominated Outside the Cinema podcast) presents his Top 5 List of Best Zombie Movies to Play at Your Halloween Party (and then Bill from Outside the Cinema decides to drop by with a list of his own!), and if that's not enough to help keep Brother D straight, one of the MOZ Family helped out by calling in a quick review of a kinda-sorta zombie movie released by Full Moon a few years ago. Maybe that wasn't enough to keep Brother D level-headed because he does make a phone call this week (NOT to Netflix!) that may get him in trouble down the line! Miss Bren drops by for the weekly Feedback Discussion, and the answers to the current ZAT question are gone over before a new question is posed to the family. Also, we're still running that contest to give away one of three copies of the book Zombie Movies: The Ultimate Guide by Glenn Kay - listen to the episode to learn how you can win!

Episode 041

In this week's episode of Mail Order Zombie, Brother D tries to wash the taste of House of the Dead out of his mouth with two more DVD reviews. The DVD releases of Zombie Strippers and Hoodoo for Voodoo are reviewed this week, and Brother D and Miss Bren venture away from the TV screen for some theatrical kinda-sorta zombie action when they finally watch Quarantine and share their thoughts with the Mail Order Zombie family (pay attention - Brother D and Miss Bren disagree on a key point about Quarantine!). We finally announce some contest winners - three listeners will walk away from this episode of Mail Order Zombie with their own copies of Zombie Movies: The Ultimate Guide by Glenn Kay. Even though we had to record this week's Feedback Discussion earlier than normal, we have plenty of material to get through, and we've got all the other features and fun you've come to expect from Mail Order Zombie. Let's do it!

Mail Order Zombie: Episode 042
http://mailorderzombie.libsyn.com/index ... _id=402726

A Mail Order Zombie first! A zombie moviemaker swings by for an interview when co-writer/co-director of The Zombie Diaries Michael Bartlett swings by for a chat with Brother D. We also discover that country music is truly evil when we review the movie Trailer Park of Terror and watch Trace Adkins play the devil! Our Feedback Discussion runs a bit longer than normal this week because we had so many birthday wishes from the Mail Order Zombie family to Miss Bren! Thanks for sending those along! The submitted answers to the current Zombie Aptitude Test questions are reviewed, and a new ZAT question is posed to the Family this week, and we have the week's zombie news in the Zombie Beat.

Mail Order Zombie: Episode 043
http://mailorderzombie.libsyn.com/index ... _id=405150

Brother D uses the words "bunny rabbit" way too much this week in Episode 43 of Mail Order Zombie. A bunny rabbit makes its way through one of the three movies he reviews - The Forever Dead, Storm of the Dead and Dead Country. Two members of the Mail Order Zombie family contribute reviews of their own, bringing the review total to four-and-a-half (!) this week. In the middle of all these reviews, Brother D talks about how to get the most amount of movies for the least amount of money, and we launch a new contest in this episode! We have four copies of a 5-Headshot-rated movie to give away! Miss Bren also swings by for the weekly Feedback Discussion, and we're still accepting answers for the current Zombie Aptitude Test question. Can you handle the bunny rabbit? Can you handle the zombies? Can you handle Episode 43?

Mail Order Zombie: Episode 044
http://mailorderzombie.libsyn.com/index ... _id=407519

Two more movies and a videogame get some attention this week in Episode 44 of Mail Order Zombie. Many, many moons ago, a member of the Mail Order Zombie Family asked Brother D about a movie he found in the discount bin at his local Wal-Mart. The movie? 2004's Death Valley: The Revenge of Bloody Bill. And this week, Brother D finally reviews it. And more recently, another MOZ Family member asked about the movie Rome Against Rome, so Brother D reviews this movie this week as well. A new contributor joins the family to review the videogame Left 4 Dead, and Miss Bren does her best to keep a straight face when she gets a series of strange phone calls while reading emails in this week's Feedback Discussion.

Mail Order Zombie: Episode 045.5 - Zombie Beat
http://mailorderzombie.libsyn.com/index ... _id=409999

This week on Mail Order Zombie, the movie Day X steps up for its MOZ treatment, and instead of a second movie review, we review a comic. Miss Bren just read Volume 1 of The Walking Dead trade paperbacks, so she sits down with Brother D to talk about it (as well as sneaking in a few words about what she's read of Volume 2 so far!). The contest for The Zombie Diaries has come to an end, and the winners are announced, and because we like giving things away (and we have very generous members of the Mail Order Zombie Family who have hooked us up with such great swag!), we'll slip in the launch of a new contest this week, too! We go over the week's emails and voicemails in the weekly Feedback Discussion and add another country to the MOZ World Domination plans when we hear from a new listener in a country we've not heard from before. We also learn why Brother D has started carrying a screwdriver with him everywhere he goes.

Mail Order Zombie: Episode 046
http://mailorderzombie.libsyn.com/index ... _id=411916

There are Headshots a'plenty in this week's episode of Mail Order Zombie. Brother D takes a good and hard (and sometimes mean) look at the movies Zombiez, Catholic Ghoulgirls and Zombie Apocalypse before diving into this week's Feedback Discussion with Miss Bren. We'll also sneak in a few diary entries into the mix - Zombie Farmer submitted a few days' worth of journaling detailing how she would handle living in a zombie reality.

Special thanks to everyone who called in to wish Brother D a happy birthday this week. At the time of Episode 46's recording, we'd received email greetings, a Disneyland recording from Need-a-Nickname Scott (from The Disney, Indiana Podcast), forum posts, Tweets, voicemails, an E-card and even a special message from one of the lead actors from an Uncle Romero classic!

Mail Order Zombie: Episode 047
http://mailorderzombie.libsyn.com/index ... _id=414224

We lost track of how many headshots we gave out this week on Mail Order Zombie! Brother D reviews John Saxon's only turn in the director's chair when he takes a look at Zombie Death House, and then Miss Bren fires off some headshots of her own when she joins Brother D for a discussion of Dead Set. Mail Order Zombie Family members Jay and Mathew also send in reviews of their own (taking a look at Resident Evil: Degeneration and Waxwork II: Lost in Time respectively). But it's not just movie reviews this week - Billy Garberina, actor-director of the 4-Headshot-rated Necroville spends some time with Mail Order Zombie this week to talk about movie-making, why no-budgetters might be drawn to zombies and how you can't always trust the IMDB. The winners for the trade paperbacks of The Walking Dead are announced as well.

Mail Order Zombie: Episode 048
http://mailorderzombie.libsyn.com/index ... _id=416069

Happy Holidays, everyone! In Episode 48 of Mail Order Zombie, after Brother D hits the weekly zombie news and sightings in the Zombie Beat, he and Miss Bren catch up on Feedback that's been building up at MOZ Central over the past few weeks. In the midst of this Feedback Discussion special, Brother D announces a new contest for the Mail Order Zombie Family.

Episode 054

To celebrate Uncle Romero's birthday earlier this week, Mail Order Zombie brings another week of straight-to-DVD zombie movie reviews! Brother D reviews the movies Zombie Cheerleading Camp and Ritual, dispensing the Headshot reviews with glee! Mail Order Zombie Family Member Mathew from Shelbytownship, Michigan, called in a review of 2008's Day of the Dead, and January's ZAT, or Zombie Aptitude Test, questions are revealed when Miss Bren drops by the show. During the backhalf of Episode 54, Miss Bren swings by again to help Brother D go over the week's Feedback Discussion. Episode 053

This is the mark of the second year of Mail Order Zombie, and we're doing what we've done for the past 52 weeks - we're reviewing straight-to-DVD zombie movies. This week, Brother D throws some headshots at the movies Super Hell and Swamp Zombies. Between the two movie reviews, he'll take a critical look . . . er . . . listen to the John Harrison soundtrack from the Uncle Romero zombie film Day of the Dead. Later in the show, Miss Bren sits down behind the microphone to join Brother D for the weekly Feedback Discussion. Episode 052

It's the end of Year One here at Mail Order Zombie, and we're going to do what we always do - we've got zombie movies to review. This week, Brother D tries to review the zombie movies Flesh Freaks and Johnny Sunshine Maximum Violence. We've got a healthy dose of Feedback Discussion this week as well; Miss Bren joins Brother D to go over the weekly emails and voicemails. Also, the director of Grave Mistake, Shawn Darling, drops by to talk about making his own zombie movie, casting a a grocery store, and what magical things are coming up next for him. Because this is our 52nd week, though, we had to do something special this week, so your two co-hosts announce the official nominations for the 2008 Mail Order Zombie Dead Letter Awards. Episode 051

This episode of Mail Order Zombie goes to Europe when Brother D reviews the movies Demonic and Choking Hazard, and here's a word of warning - Miss Bren totally crashes the Choking Hazard review, and when she does, she and Brother D both spoil pretty much everything about Choking Hazard, so consider yourself warned! This week also marks the debut of a new segment from MOZ Family Member O'Day. Called O'Day's MOZ Survival Tips, this segment makes Mail Order Zombie no longer just entertaining, but it's educational now, too! The current Zombie Aptitude Test, or ZAT, is still open, and, as always, the backhalf of the show is devoted to this week's Feedback Discussion (and, yes, Spot - Brother D will take you to Zombie Town). Episode 050

Brother D and Miss Bren are struggling through sore throats and congestion this week, but before they become zombies themselves, they drop a few more reviews in Episode 50 of Mail Order Zombie. Brother D braves the movies Rise of the Dead and Grave Mistake, and Miss Bren's Post Script (da-da-dum!) returns when she reviews the book Plague Year by Jeff Carlson. MOZ Family Member Zombie Farmer submits a few more entries from her diary describing her experience in a world in which the zombie apocalypse has already happened, and in the middle of all this, the winners of the Necroville DVD contest are announced. Episode 049

While this episode might run a bit shorter than normal, we're still bringing you straight-to-DVD zombie movie reviews in what might very well be the first horror podcast of 2009 - Episode 49 of Mail Order Zombie. In this week's episode, Brother D reviews two more zombie movies: Hollywood Mortuary and Pulse 3. Before Miss Bren joins him for the weekly Feedback Discussion, she first sits down with Brother D to talk about Mail Order Zombie's 2008 achievements and 2009 goals. And courtesy of POPCinema, Mail Order Zombie is giving away 5 copies of the 4-Headshot-rated movie Necroville; details on how you can win one of these copies are in this episode. Episode 055

It's Civil War week here at Mail Order Zombie. Brother D reviews two Civil War movies when he casts his ever-critical eye on Grey Knight and Curse of the Cannibal Confederates. Miss Bren does double-duty this week - she not only helps with the week's Feedback Discussion, but she also stops by to discuss five Civil War-themed zombie short stories as well. We're still accepting answers for the current Zombie Aptitude Test. This episode did run a bit longer than we planned, so thanks for hanging in there with us!

Episode 056

Mail Order Zombie goes Old West (sort of) and overseas with two more movie reviews this week - Brother D reviews the recently-released Dead Noon, and then Miss Bren joins him for a discussion of the South Korean movie The Guardpost. Because MOZ Central is gearing up for the 1st Annual Dead Letter Awards next week, instead of Brother D reviewing another straight-to-DVD zombie movie on his own like he normally would, some members of the Mail Order Zombie family have contributed material for this week's show. O'Day submits the second installment in his series of survival tips, and everyone's favorite living impaired family member Wayne Kotke conducts a phone interview with Timothy Mather, director of No. My Other Possessed Zombie Girlfriend. Busy for the awards show or not, Miss Bren and Brother D still have time to go over the voicemails and emails from the previous week for this episode's Feedback Discussion as well.

Episode 57

This is it! With the help of a few friends, Miss Bren and Brother D present the 1st Annual Mail Order Zombie Dead Letter Awards! The pre-show runs just over 30 minutes, and then Mail Order Zombie announces the best in zombie movies and media from 2008. Special awards are also presented, and three bands appear on the MOZ stage for this special occasion. Ten lucky voters/members of the Mail Order Zombie family also receive prizes in the form of the Dead Letter Awards Swag Bag!

Episode 058

Mail Order Zombie is back in business after last week's Dead Letter Awards! Brother D dives into a review of the 2007 straight-to-DVD zombie movie Zombie Town directed by Damon Lemay before kicking off the month-long series March of the Zombi(e) with a critical look at the 1979 Fulci Film Zombi 2. The Hammer film The Plague of the Zombies makes its first official appearance on Mail Order Zombie, but not for a Headshot review, and Brother D is eager to talk about a very specific element of this movie. Mail Order Zombie Family Member Dr. J launches his own series on the show this week, and since it's a new month, a new Zombie Aptitude Test, or ZAT, question is posed to the listeners. This week's Feedback Discussion is super-sized, and Miss Bren joins Brother D to go over a number of emails and voicemails; in addition to the regulars, some new listeners and emailers join the party.

Episode 059

March of the Zombi(e) continues this week when Brother D casts his ever-critical eye at 1988's Zombi 3, directed by Lucio Fulci and Bruno Mattei. Also, Otto; Or, Up With Dead People shambles up for its headshots this week, and Miss Bren drops by to help goover everyone's Zombie Aptitude Test answers from last month. She also comes back forthe backhalf of the show for this week's Feedback Discussion to help Brother D talk about the one or two things that make him squirm the most. Due to circumstance beyond Mail Order Zombie's control, there is no Zombie Beat this week, but the show is still filled with all kinds of zombie goodness, so check it out!

Episode 060

March of the Zombi(e) continues as Brother D reviews Zombie 4: After Death, directed by Clyde Anderson, aka Claudio Fragasso; but not before he reviews the new release Sick and the Dead, directed by Jordy Dickens and Brockton McKinney. This episode of Mail Order Zombie reviews more than just movies this week - Joe R. Lansdale's novella Dead in the West gets some attention, and an MOZ Family Member calls in a review of a kinda-sorta zombie short story as well. And as always, Miss Bren joins the show for the weekly Feedback Discussion.

Another week, another episode of Mail Order Zombie. Episode 61 marks the end of March of the Zombi(e), which means Brother D will wrap up the franchise with a review of Zombie 5: Killing Birds, directed by Claudio Lattanzi and Joe D'Amato. Another MOZ Family Member - Jay Emmitt from the Obscure 80s Show - launches a new segment this week, and Brother D takes a moment to start talking about some changes coming for all things Mail Order Zombie. Miss Bren joins the show for the weekly Feedback Discussion, and watches as Brother D continues to squirm over eye trauma. (And special thanks to Miss Bren who handled most of the post-production for the Feedback segment!)

Episode 062

After some dramatic-traumatic travel experiences, Miss Bren and Brother D made it back from HorrorHound Weekend, and are ready to talk all about it! It was an amazing experience, despite the travel trouble getting to and from the event, and since their attending HorrorHound Weekend would not have happened without the support of the listeners and the MOZ Family, they want to share! Additionally, two more movies are reviewed this week - Graveyard Alive and Dark New World get their Headshots this episode. Also, we hear back from some of the 2008 Dead Letter Award Winners, and April's Zombie Aptitude Test question is announced.

Links to HorrorHound Weekend pictures are forthcoming!

Episode 063

Episode 063 of Mail Order Zombie is a bit longer than normal as Miss Bren and Brother D make it a point to get through the backlog of emails and voicemails in this week's Feedback Discussion, but Brother D can't let a week go by without two more movie reviews - the Ed Brisson short movie Graveyard and Doomed, directed by Michael Su, receive their headshots this week. The Zombie Beat returns to the show with Mail Order Zombie's top zombie news stories for the week, and last month's Zombie Aptitude Test question's answers are gone over in front of the class. The next installment of O'Day's Survival Tips gives us all even more information regarding how we might survive in the case of a real zombie apocalypse . . . or any other emergency, and stay tuned to the end of the show to hear a few more thoughts from the MOZ Family regarding the March 2009 HorrorHound Weekend, including thoughts from Slug!

Episode 064

Miss Bren's Post Script is back in this week's episode of Mail Order Zombie, and Brother D joins her as they look at two different zombie novels - Miss Bren reviews The Rising: Selected Scenes from the End of the World by Brian Keene, and Brother D reviews Pride and Prejudice and Zombies by Jane Austen and Seth-Grahame-Smith. As for this week's movie reviews, Brother D fires a few more Headshots when he looks at the movies Livelihood, directed by Ryan Graham, and Black Swarm, directed by David Winning (It goes without saying that Miss Bren will not be watching Black Swarm any time soon!) A decision is made regarding whether or not the Headshot rating scale should be changed, and answers are still being collected for this month's Zombie Aptitude Test.

Episode 065

Circumstances have led to this week's show being shorter than normal. As I've mentioned in a previous episode, my stepfather recently passed away, and his memorial is taking place in Cheyenne, WY, later this week. As Miss Bren and I will be flying from the Pacific Northwest to Colorado, and then drive from Colorado to Wyoming, and then driving/flying back again a few days later, we've not been able to produce a regular episode of Mail Order Zombie this week. Reviews of Beneath the Surface and Die-ner (Get It?) will appear next week, as will a review of the score to the upcoming zombie movie Deadlands 2: Trapped. Thanks for your support, and thanks for listening!

Episode 066

Now THIS is Episode 66 of the podcast devoted to straight-to-DVD zombie movies and a little bit more - Mail Order Zombie. This week, Brother D reviews two movies - Beneath the Surface, directed by Blake Reigle, and Die-Ner (Get It?), directed by Patrick Horvath - and Miss Bren reviews the post-apocalyptic novel On the Beach by Nevil Shute. Also, Dr. J makes Brother D's skin crawl with a new installment of Med of the Dead, and the Gary Ugarek and Brian Wright score from the upcoming zombie movie Deadlands 2: Trapped gets a good listen when Brother D reviews it (before reviewing the movie Deadlands 2: Trapped next week in Episode 067).

Episode 067

Episode 67 of Mail Order Zombie is packed and stacked with over 3 hours of zombie goodness! Brother D reviews the mockumentary The Zombeatles: All You Need is Brains, as well as the upcoming zombie feature Deadlands 2: Trapped. Gary Ugarek, the writer/director of Deadlands 2: Trapped also joins Brother D for an information-filled interview in which he discusses his zombie extra experiences on the set of two big budget zombie movies, his reasoning behind directing two independent zombie movies of his own, his thoughts on film music in zombie movies, and if you stick around to the end of the show, he'll even talk about . . . food(?). In Miss Bren's Post Script, she sits down with Brother D to talk about the Margaret Atwood post-apocalyptic/dystopian future novels The Handmaid's Tale and Oryx and Crake. Mathew from Shelbytownship, Michigan, launches his new series, the ABCs of Zombies, and the answers from the April Zombie Aptitude are reviewed before the new monthly ZAT question is introduced for May. All this, plus a smattering of Feedback makes this episode of Mail Order Zombie one of the most content-heavy to date, so strap in and make sure you pack a lunch!

Episode 068

It's Zombie Girl week here at Mail Order Zombie as Brother D and Miss Bren are reviewing the movies Pathogen, directed by Emily Hagins (this is the only zombie movie to be directed by a twelve-year-old girl); and Zombie Girl: The Movie, directed by Justin Johnson, Aaron Marshall and Erik Mauck (the documentary following the production of Pathogen). Brother D is also reviewing the Christopher Thomas score from Zombie Girl: The Movie. In Miss Bren's Post Script, Jake's Wake, written by John Skipp and Cody Goodfellow, gets a little attention, and Mathew from Shelbytownship, Michigan, drops a few more ABCs of Zombies. We're still taking answers for the current Zombie Aptitude Test as well. The backhalf of the show is devoted to the weekly Feedback Discussion, so you'll want to check that out for this week's emails and voicemails, as well as a slip of the tongue that has given Brother D a few interesting ideas for a t-shirt design (or not!)

Mail Order Zombie: Episode 069

What better way to celebrate Episode 69 of Mail Order Zombie than to review the movies Erotic Nights of the Living Dead and Orgy of the Dead? That not enough for you? Miss Bren's Post Script tackles the naughty bits (and the non-naughty-bits) of the vampire/zombie novel Roses of Blood on Barbwire Vines. We don't spend the entire episode in the gutter; Mathew from Shelbytownship, Michigan, shares another installment of the ABC's of Zombies, and there's a sneak preview (courtesy of Third Coast Zed) of some of the answers we've received so far for May's Zombie Aptitude Test. And did somebody say, "pickles?"

Mail Order Zombie: Episode 070

Where can you go every May to watch zombie (and vampire) movies? Zompire: The Undead Film Festival. Where can you go to hear about the festival if you missed the event? Mail Order Zombie. In Episode 70 of MOZ, Brother D covers the event, reviewing some of the zombie movies shown (The Revenant and Morgue Story: Blood, Blowfish & Comics and a number of zombie short movies), interviewing filmmaker Kerry Prior, festival director Andrew Migliore and game designer Scott Glancy, and hanging with Mail Order Zombie Family Member O'Day. Additionally, Zombie Hunter Tony calls in a report from a local Zombie Prom. Zombie events aside, we can't let a week go by without a DVD or book review; Brother D reviews Zombiegeddon, directed by Chris Watson; and in Miss Bren's Post Script, David Wellington's Monster Island gets a little critical attention. You've got until next week to submit your answers to the current Zombie Aptitude Test which was inspired by the mockumentary The Zombeatles: All You Need is Brains, so get singing, y'all! The backhalf of the episode is set aside for the weekly Feedback Discussion, where not only do we talk about zombie movies and answer listener emails and voicemails, but Brother D questions . . . Canadian gangs? And Miss Bren finally puts her foot down; Brother D's zombie books have no place in the bathroom.

Mail Order Zombie: Episode 071
http://mailorderzombie.libsyn.com/in...post_id=488147

Episode 71 of Mail Order Zombie is filled with pudding! And zombie movies! And a book! And undead karaoke? In this week's episode, Brother D reviews the zombie movie DVDs Dead Summer, directed by Eddie Benevich (courtesy of SRS Cinema), and the upcoming Destined to be Ingested, directed by Sofian Khan. And how often do you get to watch a straight-to-DVD zombie movie on the big screen? Brother D did just that at the World Premiere of John Bowker's Platoon of the Dead. He also interviewed the director as well as producer Joe Sherlock. In Miss Bren's Post Script, Miss Bren reviews the short novel Deadlands by Scott A. Johnson. Throughout the entire episode, the Zombie Aptitude Test submissions are reviewed (ah, THAT'S where the undead karaoke came from!), and a new ZAT question is laid out before the class (this ZAT question was suggested by MOZ Family Member Harold Jennett, whose work you can check out at http://www.mimescomic.com/). And if you listen closely, you might hear about a contest somewhere in the episode . . .
Special thanks to everyone who submitted a ZAT answer last month. Y'all know who you are . . . Scott, Tracey, Steve, Julie, Gord, Patrick, Slug, Wayne, Terror Haute Kent, Jay and Third Coast Zed . . . !

Mail Order Zombie: Episode 72
http://tinyurl.com/moz072

Episode 72 of Mail Order Zombie is another super-sized episode of straight-to-DVD-zombie-movie-goodness . . . and a little bit more. Brother D takes a look two zombie movies this week: Melvin, from director Henry Weintraub; and RetarDEAD, from the team of Rick Popko and Dan West, are reviewed. In the middle of the movie reviews, Brother D sits in with Miss Bren during the Post Script to talk about the post-apocalyptic novel Swan Song by Robert McCammon. Dr. J presents the next installment of his Med of the Dead series, and Zombie Hunter Tony submits another Zombie Squad report, this time covering an game store event that was crashed by zombies. Also, Miss Bren and Brother D attended the 2009 Crypticon Horror Convention in Seattle, WA, this past weekend, so in this episode, you'll get to drop in on the Phantasm panel, as well as hear from folks like Ken Foree, Adrienne King and Reggie Bannister. He didn't get a chance to do so last week, so Brother D met with Platoon of the Dead special make-up effects artist Rob Merickel at Crypticon, and this interview makes its way into this week's episode as well. You'll hear all this, plus the Zombie Aptitude Test, the Feedback Discussion, another contest and two birthday greetings in this week's episode of Mail Order Zombie.
